Hey guys i need some input - I have a 2004 Gambler 2100 with a 225 merc. The plate states max HP 280 - Looking for alittle more speed from the boat and looking to upsize the motor - Either a Merc 300 Verado or Merc pro xs??? Concerns with the Max HP rate,Cost of the Verado to the Pro XS.....what are some of the pros and cons..... Thanks in advance

Go with the Pro XS.... I have not heard good things about verado's on high performance boats. Con- Verado = Weight

The last I saw the verado was pretty pricey to say the least !

I do not think you can go wrong with the Opti's

I sure can't imagine putting a Verado on the back of a Gambler.....the weight would be a major problem.

Heard that the Verado's are terrible for gas usage.

That verado may stand you up on the backside... Too much weight for the back end of a Gambler in my opinion.... Call the factory and see if they have even attempted it...
