Update on my loss of top end speed!

    Hey everyone,

Thought I would update you on my findings. The boat is going in tomorrow, but I thought I would pop the cowling off one more time to check everything. I was looking around, checking wires and hoses....nothing....then! I moved the bottom port side spark plug wire and sure enough...it was broken off on the distributor side of the wire!!!!...It was hidden so I could not see it. So in a nutshell, I've been running on 5 cyl. I'm still going to take her in to get a clean bill of health...but I'm very certain that was the problem. Does anyone know if running on 5cyl could cause any problems? I would not think so. If I'm not mistaken all thats going on is the cyl is just moving up and down without firing. A big thanks to everyone..and a big thank yout to YOURRHEADS !!! He mentioned that taking my cowling on and off could cause the port side wires to come loose! Again, a big thank you to everyone....Cobra boat owners rule!!!!

Man that is great!! I would see if I could get another plug wire and plug and pop it in and take it out for a test run just to make sure. Still take it in for a check up, but you will know exactly how it ran before you took it in. I always like to know if the mechanic made any real differences or not. (Just in case the shop is not quite on the up and up. Would hate to see you get a big mechanic bill for parts and labor when the wire might fix you up just fine.)

"After all these parts and labor, she runs great now!!!"

Plus, just in case you have more problems than just the pulg wire (doubtful) you will know before taking it in and be a little more prepared to spend some money.

As long as there was no interruption of fuel/oil to any cylinder, it should be OK if it was just no spark in one. Good Luck!
