    Charger setup-runs too flat

Got wife a 1994 Charger 186 with a 120 Force. Motor runs perfectly but boat runs too flat. There is no bow lift so no top speed. Currently running 4400 rpm at 41 mph on speedo. Need to get front of boat up to bring speed and rpms up. Prop is 19 trophy 4 blade. Have also tried 19 and 21 Quicksilver, 21 Laser, and 21 Balistic. Boat has good holeshot with all 5 props, but will not lift at all. Motor is mounted on top hole about 3/4" off transom. Trimming the motor seems to do little good, at about 7/8 trim it blows out and have to lower the motor a little. The trophy does best of all the props I have tried. Has anyone ever ran this combo and made it lift? I know this is under powered, but expect a little more. Thanks

With the force motor which is belly up now .At those rpms you will never get that boat to lift,Chargers dont start getting on the pad till 5000 to 5500 rpm. There hull design needs a lot of horsepower which translates to rpms and rpms mean speed.
You might look at getting a used 150 or 175 merc or yammie. the merc and yammie will turn 6000 rpms and a speed of around 60 to 65 loaded.

Difficult for me to believe that no prop-setup combination will not lift at all. Have seen underpowered boats of other brands still lift. They may no have been going fast but the nose of the boat was up a little. Has anyone ever seen a 186 Charger with less that 150 hp on it? Thanks for your info.

You might ask this question in the set up section but with the Force motor I don't think you will see much better.

Thanks a lot, I will try the set up board. I was just hoping that someone had ran an underpowered Charger and might give me some advise. Good luck to all, 3-Liter

i agree, that boat with a 120, and a force at that, only turning 4400 is not gonna get the bow up.. have you tried a 3 blade 19? you gotta get those R's up.

Ok, you stated some interesting ststs, but there are some questions I have, later. Running a 4 blade will give you less speed and less vibration. A 3 blade 21 will give you about the same hole shot but more speed, a 2 inch pitch diff between 3 and 4 blade is the standard. I am currently running a 25 on a 395 w/225 and I am running about equal mph - rpm. So it does not sound as though you are too far under powered. I am guessing that you are not running a jack plate? It sounds like it. But that is not necessary with our boats. Next where is the shaft compared to the pad? If you do not know how to measure, place a board on the pad and measure up, or hopefully down to where the center of the prop shaft is. That will give us nedrecks an old survey term, a point of beginning. The more info we have the better we can get you up and running great.
