Need some pics on where to mount skimmer transducer on transom
Wouldn't put it on the transom. I would epoxy it in for a through the hull shoot in the bilge area.
I thought about that but this is the new lower profile down scan trans for elite 5 Lowrance can this kind of trans be mounted thru hull?
Oh I see. I offer no help on that question. Might call Lowrance and find out for sure.
Most have been mounting it on the JP.

thanks for the pics. If I was to mount directly to hull, should I mount it on the upper sided where the JP is mounted instead of where the plug and livewell drain is? Will the cavitation affect the ablility to read at higher speeds? I would think this would be better since the ducer will be higher than the lowest point of the hull?
If it were mine, I wouldn't mount it lower than the hull surface. They appear to be quite expensive to replace. They may not afford a quality pic at higher speeds. More of an idle speed around docks or structure.

Most reliable applications have been on the JP. I personally don't like drilling my glass. But, you're the one that has to use it, so you need to decide where to place it. I haven't seen any attached to the hull.

I see what you are saying. I agree about higher speeds and picking up. Is there mounting hardware that is standard for mounting to JP? I have a rite-hite JP and it is painted aluminum so not sure how drilling into it will go? if there is hardware, where can I buy it. this is for a lowrance skimmer but it is a new slender style for the new elite-5
