I just came home from the Lake Erie Rally this past weekend. I have always wondered if my "Old School" 1993 190 Champion with a measly 150 HP Evinrude Intruder would measure up to all the others with more modern rigs and much higher HP engines. Well, let me tell you, I'm a believer now. When it got rough on Erie (biggest and roughest water I've ever seen), my Champion performed. I was running side by side with 200, 225 and 250 HP motors. And I was "mostly dry" when everyone else was completely soaked. Everyone else had to run their bilge pumps constantly. Everytime I hit the bilge, she was empty. Only time water came out was after a rain shower. My Champ got soooo many compliments from the other guys, it made me feel rather special. I'm waiting for some pic's another boater took. I can't wait to see what the Champ looks like on Erie. It will be a real shame if these hulls go by the wayside under the stratos badge.
