    'Nother Newby alert!!!

Greetings all! I just wanted to say hello and share with you a little blessing that happened over the weekend!

My family has a long history of Champion ownership. You have all seen the pics added by KHolm, my awesome dad! My grandpa, my uncles and my dad all have Champs of varying size and over-exaggerated power. I'm happy to report that my son and I are too proud operators of a 1988 Champion 201dc! It's not in the most spectacular shape, but it's a platform to build off of and make it our own. The base of the project is there w/ excellent hull and motor (150 'Rude XP) and tandem Champ trailer and simply needs carpet, new seats, controls, Trolling motor etc, but it's something that my 7 year old (Today, happy birthday Kar!!!) and I can work on with the support of my wonderful dad (via text) and you all on this forum.

Who knows, maybe in a couple years when completed we can get a 4 generation Champ pic posted! Thank you mom and dad!!!! Progress pics to follow!

Thanks all! And we're really excited (well, most of us) about starting the project. It's so hard to find any good information about this boat, but we'll manage. It's a minumum of 24 months and time I have. The bond is very important as it's a way to pass on a love of fishing that I grew up with, and now my son too will enjoy.

Does anyone know what the exact model of this boat really is? How about the dimensions? As I move forward, I'd like to know what I need for carpeting, seats etc... Thanks again and happy to be here!!

    Re: (LilKHolm)

My brochures are at home. Remind me tomorrow....Not sure how much info brochure will give, but our guys on here with 201s can definitely help determine model, etc...

Does it have fore and aft livewells or 2 rear wells? Side rails on gunnels...long, short, none? Cushions on rod locker lids or no?

Your seats were made by Dean's in AR. They are a sponsor here on BBC. Give them your HIN and they should know some good info regarding model and replacement seats...

Lea, i will for sure remind you! :) Long side rails, rear wells only and standard rod boxes ea. side no cushions Hope that helps a little, it's all coming from a picture as the boat itself is still sitting in a barn waiting for pickup.

Lea, Friendly reminder about your brochures. Any related information to the '88 201 that you may have found? Thanks again! Karson and I are very excited to start this and absolutely cannot wait to get out on the water!

    Re: (LilKHolm)

The long hand rails on the front may be there as it could be a DC fish n ski. It may have had snap on pads that went over the rod lockers. Mine is a 201 FNS and had the cushion seats over the rod lockers so it was like a sofa. When I ordered mine I was fishing BASS federation T's and the max HP was 150 back then so I got mine with a GT 150 Johnson. With that combo expect low-mid 50's.

ChampioNman.... you have definitely got my attnetion! If it's rated max 150, I can't put anything larger on it, say future 225 re-power??? Oh, I sooo didn't need to hear that!

    Re: (LilKHolm)

Nope it is rated for any v-6. you can put a 300 on it as long as the transom is sound.

    Re: (LilKHolm)

Some are rated for V6 only. Mine is a 91 rated for V6 and I have a 250 sitting on it. Mine is a single console with livewells in the rear, single console, and two rod boxes up front. I believe its a 201SC. Does your have single or dual console? Dual would probably be a 201DC. Dont worry about it... its a Champion... Welcome to the caddies of bass boats, youre in good company here.
