    Spark Plug Question

Can someone tell me what type spark plug I need for a 2000 Johnson 225HO (don't have the model number with me)? It's started the last few trips out becoming increasingly hard to get it started when getting it off the trailer. After the initial start of the day, it's fine. I normally fish at least one tournament per month if not two so it doesn't really stay parked that much. At first I thought I was just flooding it out by pumping up the bulb too much but it doesn't matter what you do, it's going to take a while to get it to fire off first thing. Temperature doesn't seem to matter either, it did it before it started getting colder. Once it's started, runs smooth and no problems.

    Thanks!

Okay, now I see the darn post with the plug chart but does anyone else have any ideas as to what the problem might be other than plugs?

I have a 1975 85HP that is the same exact way........and new plugs didn't fix it

mine is temperature related......new plugs-warm weather......fires right up

new plugs -cold weather........it'll heat up the starter to where it slows down

I have a newer 200 now ...........it starts fine

That motor takes a champion ql78 yc gapped on .030.... How long has it been since the fuel filter was changed, and a good decarb and tuneup?

Re: Spark Plug Question (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

I bought the boat almost a year ago (2000 21 SS Extreme), and I haven't done anything to it yet. I've been waiting until next month when my tournaments are finished. As far as the fuel filter goes, there' not one on the fuel line (at least that's visible anywhere). Where would it be located?

Look under the area of the pump, usually lays on the bottom of the pan right in that area...
