I'm going to take my newly acquired 96 Cajun/96 Johnson 150 Faststrike to the dealer for a tuneup. What regular maintainence should I perform? I'm aware of:
Checking and adding oil regularly
Greasing lower unit-frequency?
What else do I need to do? I plan to run the setup throughout the winter. I raise/lower engine several times after each use to 'remove' water if freezing temps @ night.

Running it is most of the battle! Letting them sit for months at a time is what kills most engines. Use 2+4 fuel conditioner to help keep the moisture out of the fuel. Keep the tilt tube greased up,keep the steering lubed up,keep the battery terminals clean and tight, no wing nuts. Keep the batteries topped off, or at least before you go, this helps those cold start mornings to go a little smoother. Most of all,fish and be happy!!!
I believe this is my tilt tube. If so I assume I just put some grease on the shaft and tilt up/down to spread it?
Same idea with steering cables? Just grease the two steering 'rods' and move the wheel to spread it?
And last but not least the lower unit. How do I grease it? The two arrows represent fill and overflow...I think...
Sorry for the barage of questions but I don't like to assume on outboard maintenance!
