    J/plate on Cajun

Does your cajun perform Better w/Jackplate? I have a '87 175 w/ 150 xr4 merc and runs no better with 5.5 bobs plate than bolted as high as possible on transom w/ trophy plus 23p prop. Do these hulls like setback or not? My hull is dry and sits well in the water. Thanks

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I have a 91 with a 140hp evinrude and the most i can get out of it with a jackplate is 47 mph at 5500 rpm

If you have a Ricky Green, I don't remember all of those models, it is a copy of the Skeeter starfire 175 hull. Cajun ran the transom straight across instead of recessing it forward. This resulted in a larger offset from the pad to transom. Look at your boat and see if this offset looks longer than on other boats. I think that most of the 175 models had this hull, maybe not. You may not notice any change with a jack plate if you don't change props. To answer your question, if you have this hull setback is not really needed, just personal preferance.

I raised my jackplate as I figured out that it was too low and got a tremendous difference in taking off and picking up speed but I run the same speed and a higher RPM now so I guess I need to prop mine out and see what happens then.

Jughead yes it is a rg fishin machine, super solid transom, my mechanic thinks the transom has quite an angle , like nuthin he has seen on a bass boat, do you think wedges would make a difference? I have the motor as high as i can w/out surfacing the trophy prop, i fear the trophy will sling a blade surfaced too high, but it planes the boat instantly, grabs speed and rpm real quick , then peaks out at 5200 and really doesnt run on the pad, i know if it was on the pad it would add mph.

As far as I know the transom angle is the same as other boats. Only running 5200? You may need to do a prop change. If when you shut down from wide open if the boat wants to turn hard left it was on the pad and lifted good. If not you have some tweaking to do.

If your jack plate has tuck in built into it and you can't take it out, maybe wedges would help. You don't need tuck in on that boat with a Merc.

It's a strong merc., i took the plate off an bolted to transom, i tried a 24 laser2 and got to 5400.,Motor is bolted as high as possible, no prob seeing the cav plate while truckinw/ good water press. I am sure it is a prop setup thing, fatshaft said i should get the 23 trophy worked into a 22p

I agree with you there. The backwash on mine is bad as well. It about covers the motor if you don't watch it.
