    Through Hull Transducers

    Hello, longtime first time,

    I have an 84 Ricky Green 18,3" w/a Evinrude Intruder 175.

Does anyone have experience installing/using throughhull transducers?

I lose a lot of signal strength using a shoot through type but do not see anyone ever noting that they use them.

Also, I believe that the bottom of the hull is solid glass and does not have a wood core. Can someone confirm this.

    Thanks for your help

My 1900 has a thru hull (X 20)epoxyed to the floor just above the pad. Can not confirm yet what the signal is like but it must have worked at some point.

    Re: Through Hull Transducers (CajunMan84)

I had a true thru hull transducer on a Ranger I owned years ago. Great signal strength, but pretty exposed to damage on the bottom of the hull. Currently have a transom mount. It is still more of less exposed, but sits on a mount that pops up if you hit something.
