    Lower Unit

I just lost my lower unit, well to be more specific I lost my pinion gear, foward gear, and drive shaft. The mechanic I talked to quoted me a price aroun 1200 buck just to get the gears fixed. I think it is cheaper to go with a "whole" used LU. That being said, I was thinking of going back with a Torquemaster with a low water pick up since blazer's like the high engine set back. Any suggestions?

Is anyone running a torquemaster lower unit on there Blazer?

Did yours come with low water pickup from the factory?

Your gona loose some hole shot going to a 1.75 gear. and not gain any top end. I would stick with a 1.87 gear in a stock LU and have a Bob's nosecone added. Then send it to Robbie Patterson just outside Richmond Virginia and have him do some mods to it with a torque tab and you'll have as fast a LU as you can find.

    Re: Lower Unit (BEEZER)

I was kinda thinkin that with the 1.75 gears.......here is another question for ya.....Bob's or Titus nosecone?

    Nevermind.....you already said Bob's

Mind doesn't need the torque tab I don't think, my last one didn't.......but I'm guessing you are talking about the skeg itself?

As for a Titus I do not know the differences from a Bob's. I would assume a he has a good one too. There are alot of guys who run his stuff and have never herd anything bad about him.

How much power do you think you pushing with that 175? Definetly stay with the 1.87. If your pushing around 200hp or over, I'd go with a nosecone. Even if its a 200 case with a cone. I've done some testing with a 19'/200 and pickup speed by running a coned case.

    Re: Lower Unit (chad202)

Chad, I really wanted the nose cone for the low water pickup, the cone to me is just a bonus. I very confident I could get more out of my motor if it was raised a little bit, holeshot included. I haven't measured the motor height since I have had the boat , but I'm almost positive it's gotta come up. I'm definitely staying with the 1.87 gears, and I'm pretty sure the 175 is pushing right at or a little over 200 horses.

Just fiber reeds, tuner exhaust.....I think it was a hot motor from the factory tho....on the high side of that 15% hp rating.
