needing info about a 1993 Evinrude Intruder 150

That is about all I know about the motor. The bank next to where I work has a 1993 Stratos 274 with this motor that they have repossessed. I have made an offer on it and it has been accepted -- with the stipulation that it runs well, of course. Primary question ------ what compression should this motor have?????

A little more info ----- boat has stainless steel prop, two fishfinders, stratos trailer, foot controlled 56 pound 24V trolling motor. Decent shape, clearcoat is rough - carpet shows a little wear.

I have this bought for $2200 ------ am I at least in the neighborhood of a good buy????????

This has come up pretty fast, and I am scheduled to pick up the boat on Monday. I work in an auto repair facility, and can check compression there.

The general rule on comp. is as long as all cyl. are within 10% of each other its OK. Guages read different so there is no magic number. The bottom cylinders may have lower readings then the rest because of more carbon build up, but still should be within the 10%. That motor's the same as my Faststrike good strong motors. Sounds like a bargain if it checks out OK.

The price is right if the motor checks out. You can work on the boat as you go but the motor gets expensive if it's not right. JMHO
