I've caught several in the mouth, but never in the middle. Non poisonous snake, but he was pissed. Cut the line and let him have the bait.

Are you positive he wasn't poisonous? I'm no snake expert, but the head looks a little wider than the rest of his body, and has the typical triangular shape.....or it at least looks that way from this angle.
