Need new powerhead. 1985 175 hp evinrude

Well I think I am in need of a new powerhead

Any recommendations on where to start? My engine had low compression to start (80 psi in every cyl) and then this weekend it overheated! I think its time it goes

Any suggestions on where to fine a good one at a reasonable price?

Check in with the dealers that are sponsers here. I think there's 1 or 2 in your part of the country!! 80 lbs compression isn't that bad on an 85 model!! Look into the over heat issue and fix, she's prolly got some good years left, unless ya looking to upgrade. JMHO

Yep,
Cheaper to keep her, checking your profile if you want to do a rebuild on it an learn the motor inside and out, tear it down yourself. Have the block worked and have them tell you first. Then order parts. You can go from a hone job to a sleeve and re-bore. You can go to .030 oversize on the jugs to clean them up, but you'd have to go to an oversize piston(no biggie). Your choice.
