    low voltage alarm on etecs

i have 06 twin 200 ho's and this weekend i got a low voltage alarm on one of them. they started and ran fine. i checked the voltage with the i-command gauges and one motor showed 14.2v and the other had 12.7v when running. can anyone suggest what might be the cause. thanks!

Re: low voltage alarm on etecs (ranger01)

I'd start by checking all battery connections to make sure they are clean, tight and free of corrosion. I'd also test the battery to make sure it is good (I just installed a brand new optima that was bad right out of the box). One last check would be the battery switch, to make sure it wasn't causing the drop (test voltage on both sides). If all those check out, then perhaps swap the gauges to see if the problem follows to the other engine. If so, you probably have a bad gauge. If not, you might have a charging system issue with that motor.
