    Etec 150 HO

Finally got my new startos 285 with the 150 HO, well worth the wait might I add. had a question about the water discharge stream, Is this motor supposed to have a narrow stream of water coming out the back or is it supposed to be kinda clumpy, only way I could describe it. Its a lot of water just not a solid stream. I can only see this at idle, because when i drop the throttle im holding on pretty good and hard to see behind the motor. Water PSI at idle is 8 to 9 , and above 3000 is above 20 PSI, ran wide open for 30 Min. straight, in 80 degree water with no overheating, so might be just how this motor is, any comments would ease my mind on this matter.

    Thanks matt

I hope you enjoy yours. I ordered my Stratos 285XLDC in February here in Canada, only to finally get it without an ETEC 150HO(still on b/o). I only found out about this when i picked up the boat from my dealer. They have been horrible with my purchase experience.

    Welcome to the BBC guys.

Remove the overboard discharge fitting....a 13/16 wrench or socket.....and see if there are any debris in the fitting.

Mike, sorry to hear about the dealer problems.

Mine's about the same as yours. At times I can't see water coming out and other time's it's shooting out pretty good. The water pressure is always good so I don't worry about it. 8 at idle and above 20 at high rpm's.

Yea you are getting the same PSI as I am so I will not worry about it, never overheats in 82 degree water so should be good, only thing i got to do is add the jackplate and see if i can get the RPM's up, at WOT its only turning 5100 with a half load, but love the fuel and oil consumsion on this thing, hardly any!

    Thanks, Matt

Does yours ever die right after starting it? After mine sits for a few days I have to start it 2 or 3 times before it stays running. I'm thinking that maybe I'm losing fuel pressure while it sits. Next time out I'll try pumping up the ball to see if it makes a difference.

First time on the water it died after starting twice, but thats it, when I unhook the back straps before backing into the water i give the bulb 1 pump just to make sure there is presure and it hasnt happened since then.

    Thanks Matt

My 115 does the same thing on occasion. It starts right away then dies when I put it in gear.
