Tilt assembly on the 225 H.O. etech

I was wondering if anybody else is having this same problem with their etechs, when I raise the motor up it will slowly return back to a level position in about a half hour. It doesn't effect anything unless I'm fishing in shallow water and I raise the motor up then I have to raise it again in about a half hour. Not a major inconveince but still it doesn't seem right.

The dealer has replaced the entire unit trim unit once per Bomb, problem resumed about a month later.
The dealer replaced the pump unit again per Bomb, checked all the fittings, problem resumed about two months later.

I don't understand why this problem persists any ideas.

I will provide the seriel number and model number after work, but it was purchased and produced in March of 2005 one of the first production etechs. Other than this minor problem I love this motor!!!

    Thanks,

Re: Tilt assembly on the 225 H.O. etech (fishinski)

I got my 225HO ETEC in March of 2005 also and I am not having this problem. Before that I had a 2001 FICHT and I was having the same problem and they(the dealer) never got it fixed. Because of that I have watched the ETEC very closely and have yet to experience this problem. Good luck and I am sure someone on here will have an answer.

The manual release valve may need to be cycled to clear out some debris. I have'nt had this issue on the E-tecs. Some of the earlier DI engines had some issues.

this is the exact same trim unit that has been around since 1991, it's nothing new and is used on thousands of motors. In fact Honda and Yamaha are using this Showa trim system.

Most likely dirt or a leaking check valve is keeping things from stopping hydraulic oil leakage internally. Ask the mechanic to talk to the factory hot line for dealers and see if they can change out the unit, or at least reaseal the pistons and replace the valve body.

I should add that the issues were improper cleaning of the valve body at manufacture. The units themselves give very little problem.
