    250 SHO Discussion

I just wanted to say I enjoyed all of the fighting back and forth about the SHO motor problems on this site. I run a mercury ProXS 250 and I have had my problems with bad coils and broke lower units. In my opinion every outbourd engine out there from every company is junk including Mercury and Yamaha. If you bought a new car and every time you drove it to work you had to worry about something breaking I would bet that that car company wouldn't last very long but we fisherman love our boats and motors and we just suck it up when they break and get it fixed then a week later tell all of our buddyies how great our boat runs or how fast they are. Just my 2 cents and I apolize if I offended anyone.

Jaime, you be cool. No personal attacks were being made. Life is good. Put the pedal to the metal and run the Merc bad boy all day long.

Compared to most all the bass boats made, the outboard is the best built part of the entire package.

Its kinda hard to compare an outboard to a automobile....2 very different things.

I couldn't agree more. How long do you think a standard v-6 engine would last pushing 2,000 to 3,000 lbs of dead weight at 6,000 RPM's day in and day out?

Have two friends with them - one blew twice , another motor on the way , a guide at Fork twice and Harold Allen once, Alton Jones also - I'll wait untill they get the bearing problem fixed then I'll get one - they are super when they run

You boys keep trying to bring the SHO down to the two stroke normal. I appreciate your passion.

    Re: 250 SHO Discussion (Flyswatter)

Fly, my old Ox66 finally blew after 12 years. You'll probably never own a SHO that long, so how will we know? After all, you've had three(3) of them since they were introduced. All motors are man made and owned by people who treat them differently, so there is no norm, whether it be four stroke or two stroke. I'm exactly like you in one way though, everyone should enjoy what they have and just go fishing, after all, that's what it is all about. Enough with all the bickering, of course that'll never happen!

    Re: spell ck (Flyswatter)

If there were rampant problems wouldn't these boards be crawling with posts of those problems? I've only found a couple posts so far.
