    Disconnecting gas line?

A buddy of mine says he always disconnects the gas line from the outboard and runs the engine until it starts to sputter to rid the engine of ethanol gas even though he uses Marine Sta-Bil. Is this harmful to the engine or is it a good thing to do? Thanks.

    Re: Disconnecting gas line? (VTFan)

Not recommended on any two stroke. This is especially true with a pre-mix two stroke since you will lean it out and eliminate all lubrication. You will never get all the fuel out running it out of fuel. What does happen is less fuel is left and evaporates quicker leaving a residue or varnish. Better treating the fuel and leaving it wet.
