Im looking at a Javelin with a 02 Vmax 225 with 240hrs. I know nothing about these. I have been a Merc guy all my life. Are these reliable motors/ Problem areas? Fuel Injected? What should I be looking for? Any info would be great.

My guess is it's an OX66 EFI. Does is have HPDI on the cowling or 3.1L? Great motor either way however my if it is the OX66, how are they telling you the engine hours. Is there an hour guage on the boat/motor that has been there since the beginning because there is no way to get the read-out of hours on one.
To the engine itself, it's a great motor. I have a 2001 225 OX66. It likes the gas/oil but is as realiable as they come. Have to make sure you are running some type of carbon prevention as the o2 sensor will buildup and cause all types of problems....
Im not sure if it has an hr meter. The boat is a 97 and was repowered at some point so I guess the boat has one on it, not sure however. It says 3.1 on the cowl. It had a rude 200 on it. Now it Vmax powered the owner changed the gauges out and it has the 2 Yamaha digital ones in it now.
the Yamaha multifunctional digital gauges come with an hour meter, so it (one of them, not sure if its the tach or the speedo) displays the number of hours of the motor.
