    200 V-max trim leaking down

I haven't been able to find much info on rebuilding tilt/trim in the yamaha archives. My trim unit is leaking around the two outer shafts. I ordered the o ring and dust seals from boats.net (about $60) My question is how to get the caps of the cylinder. There is probably a special tool for this. Does anyone know a way around the special tool?

Re: 200 V-max trim leaking down (desotorad)

I used the ends of a pair of needle nosed pliers. Came off easily.

Obviously need to use some caution.

Good deal. I'll try that. Did your rebuild cure your problem??
