A friend has an 03 200 HO with a lightning gearcase. It has shelled out once and was replaced under warranty. A different mechanic told him he should switch to the Magnum gearcase, that the lightning will never hold up to that motor. Lightning has 1:87 to 1 and the magnum 1:5 to 1. He said he would have to go up in pitch to make up for the gear ratio difference. (24 Raker to a 26 or 27) Any thoughts on this ? Anyone experienced this problem ? Thanks for your input.![]()
