How can I improve my holeshot (Vmax 300 HPDI)

I just got my new '06 vmax 300 HPDI installed on my tr21 and got it out on the water for the first time this weekend. I first put a 29 T1 on it and the hole shot was horrible, it took for ever to get out of the hole. I then put on a 27 T1 and my hole shot did improve a lot but it is still sluggish, it takes around 5 to 8 seconds to get on plane. Is there anything I can do to improve my hole shot. Get another prop? Raise the jack plate?

Also, I have a bobs hydraulic jack plate and to get on plane I have the jack plate and the trim all the way down.

You need a 28 Bravo1 with a set of pvs holes drilled... Preferably worked by Mark Croxton on the props page.

Re: How can I improve my holeshot (Triton85)

I tried a 29 T1 on my 201 Stratos 300 with Hydro Tec phase 3, didn't work out for me. Had good holeshot, just not so good on the top as far as handling. 28 Bravo worked by Mark as Mike suggested is a good fishing prop for me. One other thing, with the JP all the way down, my holeshot is much worse than raising up 2 or even 3 inches. In fact, I have good holeshot with the plate high and lowering as the boat planes out. When I first got my 300, I was real disappointed with the performance. Hole shot was embarrassing, took forever to plane out. Took some work and time to get the JP height, trim and props worked out. It's real impressive now, happy with the rig. Mike has driven my boat several times and can tell you it is a strong runner. With the stock 300, a 29 T1 is probably too much (unless you run really light), the 28 Bravo may be stiff as well. Mine loaded to fish and full of gas is about right with the 28 Bravo. And I have close to 80 to 100 more HP.
I also found a kinked gas line between the 10 micron filter and the motor. Also, when my motor got about 10 hours on it, it seemed to really "wake up".

So as of right now I have this 29 T1 which I probably wont use again, so I should sell it and try to get a 28p Bravo 1 worked by Mark? Should I get my 27 T1 worked by Mark as well? I thought lowering the pitch would help the hole shot? And what makes the 28 Bravo give you a better hole shot?

I just came back from doing some runs and I raised the jack plate to 2 on the gauge and my hole shot did improve a bit but not to where I want it to be. So as soon as I get on plane I should lower the jack plate back to zero? Also should I try it at 3 on the gauge to get it on plane or is that too high?

You just buy the merc flow torq hub kit that you put in taking 30 seconds. http://www.candomarineparts.co....html

Your original post says it is still sluggish with the 27. I think I would work with the 27 until you figure out the JP settings for best hole shot. As far as where the JP needs to be to start, you'll need to experiment until you find the right spot. Once that's worked out, post GPS speed and rpm with the 27. If it is on or near the limiter (mine is 6225 even though it is advertised as 6150), think about the 28 Bravo. A four blade is GENERALLY one pitch lower than a 3 blade, but a little slower on the top end. But, all set ups are different. I doubt you will pull the 29 with the stock 300, however, work out your height settings and trim, post your numbers, and then decide if you want the 29.
The Bravo has a flo-torque hub, the right kit will make it fit a Yammie. It's the kit that ends with Q2

Dang air card ya'll send 6 posts while I'm trying to send one

When you lower the JP after planing out, only go as low as needed to make the bow lift up. All the way down is likely way too low.
