I have had to take my boat to the shop twice for the same thing, the nut that holds the bearing carrier in the housing has backed out and allowed the bearing carrier to spin in the gear case. This causes the grease to leak out and prevents the engagement of reverse.
It has a little over 300 hours on it and it is on an Allison 2003 PST. It hasn't hit anything and it really hasn't been abused in any way.
The mechanic is a little surprised that it happened twice.
Any thoughts?
