    Lower unit issues F150

I have had to take my boat to the shop twice for the same thing, the nut that holds the bearing carrier in the housing has backed out and allowed the bearing carrier to spin in the gear case. This causes the grease to leak out and prevents the engagement of reverse.
It has a little over 300 hours on it and it is on an Allison 2003 PST. It hasn't hit anything and it really hasn't been abused in any way.
The mechanic is a little surprised that it happened twice.
    Any thoughts?

Have your mechanic replace the claw washer directly behind the lock nut. It can break off and the nut can back off due to vibs.

How well does the F150 push your Allison?

I believe part #71 is what metal11 is referring to.

They replaced the claw washer the last time it happened. This is the second go round with it.
It isn't very fast but it is one frugal sucker on the fuel front. Runs 67 68 with just me.
I live on a lake and run to the south end of it daily, it averages 6.5 mpg at 40 mph.
I don't troll so 95% running time is on plane.
I blew up 2 225 Pro Maxes. The speed deal was great, the tow in not so much.

    Re: (PSM207)

Yamaha wants the lower unit back un touched from the dealer. They are shipping a new out to replace it, should be here Friday.
This is just one of the reasons that I bought a Yamaha.
