fuel gauge ?

i have a 1999 200 efi #OG883266 merc on my fuel gauge it reads like say half tank but when i look at the gauge on the tank its 3/4 to full the one on the dash jumps back and forth what should i look for


ok on my speed o there is a tube just hanging by my lower unit i know its the speed o tube when i put air to it the speed o moves should i hook this back up and if i do do i have to take the lower unit off ? i dont see any other tube coming out the lower unit

It's very likely that you either have a loose wire on the fuel gauge, on the fuel sender, OR the sending unit is failing.

Pitot tube does connect to the top of the gearcase (though there is usually a link point OUTSIDE... somewhere near the lower engine mounts).

If there is no tube going down into the gearcase, you will probably need to drop the gearcase and reconnect the tubing.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you..... most of us work day jobs (and actually utilize our hand tools).

thanks don i got you man i work too but was home yesterday thanks for your info but on the tube is it somthing i need to hook up or can i wait tell i get my water pump replaced i dont use the speedo i have gps

No real harm in the pitot tube being disconnected.
