I have a 2005 225 hp optimax, it is on an o5 ranger 520, my nlower unit went out and i was looking at replacement unit . can someone tell me how to measure shaft link? some i looked at said 20 in. or 25in. some said long or xtra long. thanks and GODBLESS. bruce
Im 100% sure yours is a 20" the 25" shaft are saltwater motors.IM Don the serial # he'll tell you what you have.
The Merc ser. number tag should show 225L your R 520 is a 20" or L long shaft.. XL-Extra Long are 25" and used on big deep boats like walleye or saltwater..
