Don Help 200 Optimax

Don I have a 09 200 Optimax #1B699255, 113 hrs.trouble free. Fuel lines were replaced @ 60 hrs.I have done all filters as recomended. Last month I had an issue with a miss, 800-1000 rpms lost, thinking it may be a coil,I also noticed #6 coil wire was arcing in a bend..Took it to my dealer in Ohio, they did diagnostics cleaned & gapped plugs, replaced coils & plug wire under warranty.Took it home and tested, ran as new.Set in basement until yesterday,I was ideling watching Structure Scan.Died restarted, sounded like a cylinder, slow to plane out.Loaded It up Volts on Lowrance was showing 12.2,.All plug wires look ok??I will have to haul an hour Monday back to dealer.. I have always STRICTLY, adhered to your warm up and shutdown temps.recomendations, through Smartcraft.Your opinion highly respected Any thoughts?,THANKS

Although there are a lot of possibilities.... I'd be looking at the basics, and:

-Fuel QUALITY
-Inspect BELT and TENSIONER (and check air compressor).

Be sure to report back.....

Don,looks you were right as ALWAYS .When I checked #6 plug I thought that small particle was aluminum attached to the electrode tip. You told after me I sent you a pic it was DEFINATELY a cracked electrode I put a new plug in and ran it yesterday, ran 71.5 @5750(hit my limitter on smartcraft)regular Optimax..The plugs had @20 hrs on them.My dealer had cleaned & gapped them..also installed new coils..I had ran it right after to test for @ 20 min,Ran fine .My second time out it developed this miss.not sure where this particle came from, that wound up on electrode??But its HAULIN now.THANKS for your advice and SPEEDY response..

Iridium Electrodes (though long-wearing) are VERY brittle, and EASILY damaged by any "outside force" exerted on them.

More than likely, it was "fractured" during attempts to clean or regap the plug.

Glad to hear that a replacement plug solved the problem.... and also very glad that the broken piece of electrode was still "hanging on" where you could remove. it.
