    Question for Don or any other merc expert

    I need lower unit 2008 225 pro xs torque master
    my insurance keeps looking for aftermarket unit
    my merc tech says they are not out there and if they were he will not
    put one on.
    any thoughts?

    I am not an expert, but anything I have read has indicated to steer clear from "aftermarket" lowers. I would NOT put anything but a genuine Merc lower on mine.

    Insurance companies should not be allowed to force you to put on anything other than original manufactured parts. That's what got State Farm in so much trouble 10 years ago in the auto industry side.

    The Torquemaster Gearcase should ONLY be replaced with it's OEM Replacement Part.

    There are NO SUBSTITUTES that are safe and dependable. Period.

    They can not force you to use a inferior part, contact your insurance commisioner!

    But guess what its on BACKORDER!!!

    Looks like they'll probably be available somewhere around the end of August.....
