    Please help me remember...

I constantly watch the temp on my Smartcraft. I never blast off until I reach about 132 or so and the thermostats open. I've noticed lately that while running, Im at 127-129. It seems that my motor used to run cooler than that but I'm not sure.

    August 2007 model 250XS L with just over 100 hours. Ser # 1E003361.

    Thanks.

We're concerning primarily with temps AT IDLE SPEED. On plane temps will vary dramatically, based on lakewater temp and engine load (water flow is not controlled by thermostats at higher RPM's).

Magic number for your engine is "at least 120 degrees" at idle. If your Smartcraft reading is reaching 120 degrees, you can feel assured that the thermostats are allowing the engine to reach operating temp.

130 degree thermostats in your engine.

I don't think that my 300xs would ever see 132 at idle.

I let my 07 300xs warm up until the stats open at 130/135 degrees and the temp goes back down to 120/125 degrees.
I have also noticed an increase in water temp while running but I just figured it's because of lake temp, the engine seems to run around 125 during the warmer months and 120 or below during the cooler months.
