    Proper Break-In Procedure for a 250XS Powerhead?

    I had to have a new (Mercury factory rebuilt) powerhead put on my engine. What is the "Optimum" break in procedure?

    During the 1st 3 hours is it safe to do multiple shutdowns as in run for 10 minutes and fish or should the 1st run be longer?

    No real harm in doing so.... except that it will essentially PROLONG the break-in period (warmup and idle time don't count towards expiring the break-in clock).

    ALL Smartcraft Instruments were designed to be capable of reading engine temp.

    Which instrument do you have (describe it, or provide a picture)?

    Try pushing the "mode" button until you see Engine Temp.

    If, for some reason that function has been "turned off"... you can reset it by following the CAL1 (or perhaps CAL2) directions in the following manual:

    Must be turned off on mine. I will go thru the steps to turn it back on. Thanks for the info and the link.
