Ok. I am in a pickle. I have a tournament coming up and I need a quick fix within a week.
I have a 2005 Merc. 225 EFI 3.0 Smartcraft. Sunday I took it out and noticed there was no water coming from the motor (there used to be). I JUST had the water pump changed on the motor LAST June. I took it to a local service marine and had them change it because it had never been changed (preventave maintence).
Things I have checked.
I hooked the muffs w/ hose up to it and started it up and no water.
I hooked up a garden hose to the hose fitting (motor not running) and still not water out of the pee hole.
I took the plug out of the garden hose fitting, with the muffs on and water on, with the motor on and still no water out of either hole.
Does it sound like the water pump/impreller? Is there anything else I can check to determine if it is a bad pump/impreller?
Could the pump be OK and there is a blockage in the hose or motor somewhere??
I called the service dept at the marine I originally took it to and he actually said " well we're not goning to just eat it (put a new pump on for nothing)" I wasn't impressed with his answer. He also said the earliest he could get to it was 2 weeks.![]()
Anything else I can test?
I feel fairly confident that I could change a water pump/impreller. I have changed all kinds of things with my truck...like power steering pump. new rotors, coil packs, etc.
