    08 250 pro XS plugs

when do you change the plugs on your merc? I have just over 50 hours and I use Don's cocktail and motor runs great. A buddy said mercs can go over 100 hours before needing new plugs. My old yammie needed them every year or it would let me know it. Should I get new ones when I get it winterized? Thanks

Although it's not uncommon to get 100+ hours on a set of plugs (running appropriate oil and fuel additives), I personally recommend AT LEAST an annual inspection of the plugs. Or better yet.... replace them (so you don't have to worry about 2 of them fouling out when you have the winning bag in your livewell).

$20 a plug is crazy though.. Ouch!!

I have 140 hours on my motor with no issues... Last time I had it in shop asked about changing them and dealer said it was fine till end of year.. Before next season I will go ahead and bite the bullet and swap them..

I believe they call for an air filter replacement too at 100hrs or every year..

Depends on which model you have.... the 250 XS and 250 ProXS, for instance, have no air filter.

Try http://www.sparkplugs.com (BBC Sponsor- they also have a discount coupon code).
