Anyone ever coat their lower unit with graphite rather then painting or polishing.......it actually looks pretty cool and doesnt wear like paint. Anyone ever done this...............and what might the pros and cons to doing this? I've been told it has no drag in the water like a painted one, what could the gains possibly be i find it hard to believe.

How do you graphite coat it , thats interesting I would like to do that...
A buddy of mine had some today and showed me the stuff, rubbing it on with a rag seems to be the best way........not sure if it really helps with performance or not but i gotta tell you its the coolest looking that i have seen, but seems like you would have to stay ontop of it every once in a while to keep it looking fresh.

Most believe that a rough finish is actually a faster finish, to smooth and ya stick to the water like glass. Sort of like sanding the pad.
Do you really think that there would be any speed gains with so much of the lower unit out of the water to begin with?
