    Engine Temp

I saw the report about the "dead 250XS" and Don's comment about engine temp. As a new owner of a SmartCraft gauge and not having a temp gauge before, just wanted to check out if what I am seeing is normal.

When I launch the boat I idle it off the trailer and around the dock to park it. The engine comes up to about 130 degrees and then drops to about 115. If I keep idleing it stays around the 115. Is that normal?

I have not watched it yet at speed.

    Re: Engine Temp (fastglass1)

Your 2005 250XS will indeed idle at approximately 115 degrees when up to temp.

It's equipped with 120 degree thermostats. If you CANNOT reach 115 degrees.... you've got a thermostat sticking open.

*** NOTE TO OTHERS: Please do not arbitrarily apply these figures to YOUR Optimax Engine. MOST Optimax models need to achieve 120 Degrees at idle (this engine is an exception to the rule).
