I have a 21xd with a 250xb. I have TM on it now but I am pushing 86mph , seems to drive fine , but concerned about blow out. Motor is .5" below pad. I have SM gearcase, and was thinking of putting 1;62 gears in it.
So should I be concerned, and put the sporty on, and will the 1:62 gears gain me a few more mph.
I'm no expert but everthing I've read and heard was the tm was the way to go on the 21'10 bullet with a 250. As for the 1:62 I'm runnin the 1:75 but a friend of mine has the 1:62 on a 250xs and runs just fine

what speeds do you and he run , be interested to see if the 1:62's are faster.
I turn 6400rpms with a 27 A45 tempest. I have some mods done also.
My fear is blow out.
the only thing 1.62 gears going do is bring your rpm down . you are close to blow out speeds i would put a nose cone on. i run a stock case on a 21xd with hop up 225 efi i blow out couple of times around 85. i just had my lower unit nose coned but haven;t run it yet.
I have a SM case , I am better off with the SM case or coning the TM case . I turn 6400 rpms now, going down a couple hundred is OK, if I pick up top end with the gears , but will I.
He just got the boat recently so he's still learning to drive it, but from what the guy he bought it from is saying he might be 1 or 2 mph faster than me. the only difference I see is he's turning a 25 and I'm turning a 27(both are txp 4 blades) Now that guy said he ran it with a another prop up to 88 mph and he didn't have problems with it blowin out. Hope this helps a little.
