Can someone tell me the pros and cons of a 2003 250xs.I realize it will only take 91 octane fuel.Is it a fuel hog, noisy, rough idling. The 2003 Champion 206 I am looking at has one on it and wondering if this motor is a bad idea on a bass boat.

Requires High-Test fuel.
Very good on fuel!
Lower RPM limit (as compared to 2005 and later engines).
Solid engines, with PLENTY of power.
As with anything used, I'd highly recommend having it checked out, including AT LEAST a compression test, gearcase check, Computer Diagnostic Printouts, and of course- a test run on the water to confirm proper operation.![]()

+2 what Don said and in addition I like the power of the earlier 250 XS motors like this year, Eric Simon could re flash your ECU for a higher rev limiter and Don correct me if I'm not right, this year motor had coils with external drivers and was not subject to the "coil" issues with other later years![]()
