Dose anyone run a 3.0 liter Merc 200? How does this engine perform? What about gas/oil consumption? The motor is on a Stratos 295. Thanks

I have a 99 200 opti and the engine performs great, great on gas milage and oil consumption. It pushes my 518 ranger around 70 gps all day.![]()

Very happy with my 08 200 Opti. Great on fuel and oil consumption. It will push the Stratos 295 real well, prop it right and dial in the setup and it will haul arse.

Great motors- lot's of power and torque. Main drawback is they have a VERY healthy appetite for fuel.

The 3.0 liter 200 EFI is basically a slightly de-tuned 225. Very strong motor for a 200.

Got one and Love it. Have had no problems with it so far. Have about 95 hours on it so far. I have a 27 templess on it and it pushes my P4 to 73. If you keep out of it, its not bad on gas. On a run and gun for a day I can push over 50 gal of gas thru it though. I just wish the gas wasnt 4.00 a gallon then![]()

i have one a tr196. been good to me, owned it since 04, i have about 300 hrs on it. keep the rpm at around 4500 and you will save alot of fuel. get up to 5000 rpms and you will suck it down pretty quick. allthough it's not horrible. if my calculations are correct, i have been approximately 75 miles at wot. i used around 20-22 gallons of fuel.
I run a 2004 3.0 EFI 200 on a 2002 TR-19. It will make the little boat stroll, I'm running a Trophy Plus 4 blade 26 pitch. If I run it hard (6100 rpms) I get about 3 miles to the gallon. If I drop back to 4500-4800 it really helps alot. Knock on wood, haven't had a moments problem out of the engine.

I have a 200 efi 3.0 litre 2004 model on a procraft super pro 192, it runs 77 mph at 5400 rpm spinning a 3 blade 25 pitch prop. very happy with it, just wonder since it doesn't smoke at all should I mix a little tcw3 oil in the gas tank?

the next day we checked the speedo with the gps and the wind was gusting 30 or so with lots of traffic, we were only able to comfortably go 60 on the speedo that day but it matched the gps exactly. I was surprised..
ohhhhhh, the little super pro 192 is only 18' 6" long so it is small on the rough stuff. how much smoother would a longer boat be and what mileage loss (speed) should I expect?

Larger/heavier hulls USUALLY provide for a better ride.... but NOT always.
Keep in mind, it usually takes more "horses" to move a heavier hull the same speed, and more fuel to "feed the horses".
In 30 MPH winds.... you're probably not going to want to hit much over the 60 mark in most hulls.![]()
Of course, we've got a "few" on there that do.....![]()

How is this motor detuned ,are heads different or is it all in the ECU
Rick
Gambler Outlaw/Merc 200 EFI
Lightly different cylinder porting (geometry).....
Calibration (computer, or 2 computers on some models)
Heads (in some cases.... would need "specific engines" to compare between here)
(These are the BASIC differences)
