    Red River

Just checking on the water levels and conditions on the Red River.

I am fishing the Central Open in a couple weeks. Just trying to get a feel for what I have to look forward to, or not look forward to.

    Thanks
    Mike

    Re: Red River (Bayoubandit)

Landings in Shreveport are closed. Coushatta is closed as they are still looking for 2 kids who drowned there Thursday night. 6 teens in a 14' jon boat @ 1am. Not a life jacket between them i heard....miracle the other 4 made it out of the water....so so sad. So u better check to see what landings are open before u make the trip.

as of today clarks is open and tx will go on as planned.I would rather if they swapped it with the one on the bend in June. I think it will be too dangerous and someone is going to get hurt.

there is going to be tons of floating logs & trash in the river, plus you have to be on your toes for all those rock jetties............getting into the oxbows will be tough in the fast current & rocks.............

Especially if you don't know where they are. Several weekends ago i seen a guy that didn't know where he was going run right over the top of one and would have tore his lower unit off if he would have been on plane. Plus he or his woman didn't have their PDF's on.

    Re: Red River (BLAAJA)

I'm Nick Dalton. I am hosting a C.A.S.T. for Kids Event the day after the Central Open on April 27th. If any of you anglers are available to bring your boat and bring a child out, it would be greatly appreciated. CAST has a liability insurance program so you are covered. If you are interested, just give me a call. 318-426-8167

For fishing on the river, the water is bad enough that they canceled the Big Bass Bonanza. But hopefully it will calm down some by the end of the month. A lot of big fish have been pulled out around Caspiana and in Bishop Point.

I don't know if that river will be calm enough for the CAST for Kids but please don't take them out on that water with those conditions.

I just don't understand how the water can be so much different between those 2 places......like yourself, a couple of weeks ago, the wife & I launch out of Colfax and the water was very low, just to find it 3'-4' higher up towards Old Mongumtery & Mid-way.........things that make you say hummmmmm....

There is a hump in the middle of pool 3 around montgomery. That is why the water level is different.

NOW that can't be,,,, there are to many fast Triton's running around throwing mud on the bank along with some big slow Skeeter's...
