    Largemouth Virus at Big Hill

Was at the KBCFN Banquet last week and Doug Nygren fisheries biologist for KDWP siad Big Hill and 4 other small lakes in SE Kansas are suffering from the LMV. Not good. He said it will take at least 3 years for the lake to come back. The problem is you can't stock fish and expect them to live. Mother nature has to do her thing and the young bass with build up immunities to the virus. I am sure there are still some bass in the lake to catch. I still don't think it will get as bad as it was back in the early 90"s.

Lonestar is on the list. We've lost a bunch of fish so far and will continue to lose more.

Why can't they catch a wildfish that is positive for LMV, breed her, and then restock her fry? They should have immunity. Come get some from Grand. We had LMV in the early 2000's.

Re: Largemouth Virus at Big Hill (KM)

Last year is when it showd up, the fish had sore and looked bad. I haven't heard or seen any fish kills or anything like that, but it doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

My club had a 1 day tourney on BH this past Sunday, 13lb 1st pl. 10lb 2nd. I didn't get to fish, my boat is broke. I will out this weekend when fixed.
