tps in a 05 225 optimax

Ok quick question, i have had a issue with my optimax acting like it is stalling even on plane at lower rpms, i took it do a dealer and they are pretty sure they think my tps may be going bad, does this sound right? also they said without a alarm its hard to guess whats going on with it, would the tps pop a alarm to begin with? My dilemma is i have warranty on my motor til April but the water is getting hard up here and i don't know if I'll be able to get it out before the warranty runs out, i would love to get it fixed with merc paying the bill any help would be appreciated.

A couple of things to consider:

1. TPS is best "diagnosed" by performing a "sweep test" of the TPS. This can be done with an analog voltmeter, but is "best" done on the Computer Diagnostic System (under the data screen, with TPS selected in "GRAPH" mode). As the throttle is slowly and steadily opened and closed, the graph can be observed (or the analog voltmeter) for SMOOTH voltage transitions "up and down". Any sudden "spikes" mean the TPS is "suspect".

2. Warranty coverage for a particular failure is based on the "date of failure"- not the date of repair. Keep records of your complaint, and your visit with the dealer.

Thank you! When i take it to them to winterize in a week i'll have them do the test and i'll have them write something up, that way in the spring mercury can pay for it Other than that i love my merc!!!!!!
