How do the 225EFI and the 250XB motors differ?

How do the 225EFI and the 250XB motors differ? ECU? Heads? Not even close?

Oh boy.....numerous. To make it short and sweet, the 250 XB is a detuned 300 Pro-Max........as far as the 225......depending on the model year, they changed the port timing as well as the 4-hole shuttered intake and lower port timing to a 2-hole shuttered intake with "250" port timing. It was the 2-hole motors that would benefit greatly from an SVS set-up.........

How about the non short and sweet version???.....What year breaks were the 2and 4 hole???

Will a 225 gain anything from a 300 pro max front half, heads, and ECU???

The answer to your question is yes, IF you have the 2-hole intake. You already have the better port timing. If memory serves me correctly, Bass 'N' Walleye Mag did the same mod we are talking about, and the motor {2-shutter} made "in excess of" 275 prop shaft horsepower, with an SVS installed. According to the EPC, the model serial break was 0G437999, below that had the 2-shutter, above 4-shutter.....it's really not as clear as I'd like. As far as all the differences in the motors {225 to 250XB}, when I have some time I can pick-through and do a part number comparison.

I dont need parts break downs from 250XB to 225.....It just seemed like a good time to get a answer about adding the 300 pro max parts to my 97 225 EFI.

Wew...thanks, that would've been a lot of work....my suggestion is to call Brucato, tell him what motor you have a see what the diff would be from the horse's mouth. I think you'll be impressed....do you have the 2-shutter?

Wouldnt Simon be the 1 to contact concerning the 3.0 stuff????....I have already gotten some stuff from him....Solid motor mounts made a huge difference in the high 80's handling
I have access to a 300 pro max front half, heads and ECU so i think thats my next step

Nothing against Simon, I KNOW he's a great builder, but I have first hand experience with the SVS...installed a few and the quality and workmanship is impeccable....

Re: How do the 225EFI and the 250XB motors differ? (1outlaw)

    Let me know if interested

I have a as new set of 300 heads(only used for breakin) --400.00
A new in the pack 300 ignition computer---500.00
A 4 butterfly intake without fuel rail(yours will work fine)--600.00
Then all you need is to get a set of Boyeson reeds,250 fuel computer, and raise the cowl and that motor will run right.

By the way,the 250XB is different than the 225 and 300 because it uses non exhaust relief sleeves from the 3 liter Optimax. That is what makes the XB so bad.
