I have mostly Gore-Tex boots.....but as far as weather proofing them.....2 out of the 3 I have recommend Silicone based sealers. I've used them for about 5 years now and havnt had no problems......except for the buzz you get if applying the Silicone in a small bathroom Proabably shouldnt have told U that though

The sprays does not get into the seams as well......I get mine at our Red-Wind dealer and comes ina a small bottle with applicator.........you can really work it into the seams and sewn areas

I bought a pair of real nice Wolverines from Orsheln's a couple years back. Even though they are Goretex and waterproof I still put some sort of seal on the leather of the boot. I am not sure what it was, but it came in a bottle with a litlle metal handle and cotton swab lookin appilicator. So far so good
