    Raising Motor

Is there a way that I can raise my big motor safely by myself? Rather than taking it to my mech, who is a couple hours away. I have a 2011 250 HO. It is currently set in the third hole on the motor mount. I would like to raise it up to the last hole. My jack plate is all the way up and I am at 31/2" below pad. I would like to get a little more range. Thanx Guy's!!!

    Re: Raising Motor (bassfins)

I did it my self on my 225 HO. Get the nose of the trailer as low as possible. Tilt The motor up as far as possible. Remove the (2) upper mounting bolts. Place a jack and a piece of wood under the mounting bracket. Carefully loosen the bottom (2) bolts just enough that when pressure is put on the mounting bracket with the jack, the engine will slide up the jack plate. When it slides up enough to align with the hole you want just reinstall the upper bolts and retighten everything. Be carefull. That is a lot of weight. But if you take your time it can be done.
