My control box is hung-up (jammed, stuck) in neutral, linkage is released and still can't move the shift lever forward or backward; I'm trying to remove the control box for repair or replacement. It appears that the shift lever needs to be in forward position to remove the screw in the bottom of the shift arm to remove it from the control box...? If I'm correct are there any suggestions on a work around? I have a hotfoot if this matters.
Assuming it is a consealed side mount, you should be able to remove the mounting screws , 5 I believe, and lift it out enough to access the set screw in the bottom of the handle.

Yep, concealed and 5 screws that hold the control box to the fiberglass, the set screw that holds the shift arm on the control box would seem to be accessible through a hole in the bottom of the shift handle the hole is aligned when the handle is in a forward position...am I looking in the wrong place for the set screw?

Usually shifting into reverse helps give more access to the screw at the bottom of the handle......
