    Newbie Moving to Louisville

    Hey guys,
Due to my wifes job relocating her we're moving to Louisville. I hope to be there full time by February. I'm planning on buying a boat (corvette is for sale now) by the end of February. I'll be looking to hook up with anybody willing to show me the ropes on the local waters.

I'm planning on joining the nearest BASS Fed. club, I think the one in Bowling Green may be my best bet, any advice on this? I'd like to start hitting the tournaments since I have my wifes blessing to follow my dream of fishing for a living........ OK......... at least fishing all the time and convincing her that whatever part time income I can procure is enough to support my habits and pay a couple of the bills.

We're going to be living on the East side of Louisville outside of I-265. Oh, and anybody looking for a solid construction management professional that would be interested in talking to me about possible employment opportunities.... i.e. more work less fishing....... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time guys.

Welcome to Ky and this club. You will find a lot of folks here willing to share. If you want to find out if you can fish for a living...come on down to Ky Lake and fish the LBL division of the Walmart BFL. If you can beat these guys you are ready.

Welcome Bowling Green is about 2 hours from Louisville, that shouldn't matter becasue alot of good lakes surround that area. Just makes the meetings tough.

You can certainly find alot of knowledge in here and we will do whatever we can to help you adjust to our area.

Thanks to everybody for the responses. I never ceases to amaze me how helpful sportsman are. I've met some of the best people at the archery range, boat ramp, tackle shop or rifle range. Some duds too but they pale in comparison.

Mike, which club is closet to Louisville?

Re: Newbie Moving to Louisville (Rolex24)

Taylorsville is too close to Louisville. The lake gets pounded and because of the pressure it can be hard fishing and crowded. From the east end of Louisville with no traffic you could be at that lake in just over 30 minutes.

We have lots of bass clubs here but you are looking for Federation affiliated clubs. some other guys will know more than I will. Everyone in here fishes something different.

What we do have is some awesome lakes anywhere from an hour and a half to 3 hours away. An hour and a half an you are at Rough River Lake, Barren River Lake, Nolin River Lake, Patoka Lake, two to three hours and you have Dale Hollow, Cumberland, KY/Barkley Lakes. You have come to the promised land.

There are some bigger trails in the area besides Fed clubs. You can fish BFL's, Renegades, Midwest Sportsman, Fishers of Men. Lots of choices.

Re: Newbie Moving to Louisville (Rolex24)

Welcome to the area and to the BBC! Others have already given you lots of good advice but I will try and add my two cents worth! I fish in two clubs one in Indiana and one in Kentucky. They are both affiliated with the Federation. I would imagine the Kentucky club would be your best bet but I can hook you up with either or both. I am MUCH more active in the Indiana club, but the Kentucky club is a great club with some really good guys as well. If you want more info you can send me an IM or email me at jwhibb007@yahoo.com or just call me. 502-558-0102.

    Again, welcome aboard!

Re: Newbie Moving to Louisville (Rolex24)

The stars have aligned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a quick run down of what's gone down. My plan to be moved up to my new house and reunited with my wife since moving her up over Thanksgiving and not seeing her since Christmas has finally worked out.

Our house down here in FL just sold after being on the market for just shy of four months (not bad for the super depressed and surplus ridden housing market). My Vette sold to a guy in Arizona within a week of listing it for sale and I bought an '05 Basscat Pantera IV from a fella up in IN through Sherm.

I'm going to be in Louisville this weekend. Hopefully picking up the boat in the next week or two. Stocking up on a ton of bass tackle and taking you guys up on your offers to show me the ropes. I'm currrently unemployed and hope to stay that way while we can afford it or until a job I really want comes along. Weekday fishing on your boat or mine is ON!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: As of about two minutes ago while I was typing this, I got a call and I just set up a job interview for next week. This is scary how everything is coming together. Oh wait, if I get a job I won't have time to fish! NUTS!

Sounds great. When you get that boat, post a few pics of her.
