I am having an issue with this motor. I have had the carbs removed cleaned, overhauled and reinstalled, adjusted carbs and performed sync and link of the engine, plus decarbed the engine, yet its runs fine at high RPMs but when you cut back to idle it surges and turns off. While it surges it lets out a puff of smoke..... What could I do to finally fix this? Its costing me a fortune!
Have the timing checked.
Thanks championman, but, it was adjusted at the same time they cleaned and adjusted the carbs..... I have been reading up and suspect a VRO pump issue, could this be a possible cause?
I would suspect more of an air leak. While you decellerate quickly air would get sucked into the cylinder and cause almost a back fire. Could also be a bad reed.
