Electric Brake Controler w/ Hyd Brakes

I'm not familiar w/ these electric brake contol boxes but I just got a camper and going to install an electric brake control box on my 2010 Tundra to operate the electric brakes on the camper. My question is, will this affect my hydrolic brakes on my boat trailer? Or is there an on/off function on the brake control box? In the past, i've never had anything that needed a brake control box. Thanks in advance for any info on the subject.

Dang near 100% sure the electric brake controller will have NO affect on the surge brake system of your boat trailer. The only electric that affects your boat trailer braking is the blue wire which is enegized in reverse to disable the braking system of the trailer when backing up.

I think you are right. I put a controller on my truck and only time it does anything other than light up (the control panel on the controller) when I put my brake on is if I have a trailer with electric brakes hooked to the truck.

Should have no effect at all.

I had a travel trailer for years before I bought a boat with hydraulic surge brakes. I even went so far as to change out the flat trailer connector on my Skeeter's trailer to a 7 way plug to match my receiver outlet (ie, no need to put an adapter on the plug anymore). The wire that sends the electric brake signal to the trailer is just not used in your trailer. No connection = no problems or effect either. I plan on changing out my tin boat and utility trailer to 7 way plugs when I get around to it. It's so much simpler and makes for a more solid connection IMO.

I sold the travel trailer a few years back, but still have the Techonsa Prodigy controller mounted at the dash. Right now it does not control anything, but since it does not impact my 3 trailer use, I just leave it installed as I may get another travel trailer one day.

The only issue I see would be if for some reason either your hitch outlet or the trailer plug was not wired correctly. Then that could be a problem (but the odds are slim if they are both factory wired).
