    Square or round tube hitch?

It's snowing like crazy as i type this Can't wait for the open water season!!! Just bought a new to me truck and was just wondering if anybody knows which hitch is stronger a round tube or square tube hitch? I've always had square tubing hitches, the guy at the store said that both were available and that there's really no difference between the 2. For some reason I keep thinking the square tube should be stronger... if anybody could offer some advice i'd really appreciate it.

I don't see as to where it would make a difference. Both models are designed to carry a certain class load. Which one will look better under your truck. Just make sure it is at least a class 3 I believe. You can get class 5 if you think you will need it. Talk to you dealer about which one you would need.

Other things being equal, the square shape is stronger and more rigid. Has to do with the corners and the straight sides. However, if it's from a reputable maker and rated appropriately, a round hitch or tongue should do just fine.

There's the key right there. Stick with companies like Draw-Tite, Reese or U-Haul. Class III will cover all bass boats.

Not nessasarally true. The overall stongest shape there is, is a sphere(round). Have you ever seen a square submarine?
