1996 evinrude 225 stalling on take off

i have a 1996 evinrude 225 vindicator e225stlede it cranks up fine and idles fine when i put it in gear it goes dead sometimes and when i give it gas to take off it goes dead i have to give it gas slowly for a few seconds and then it will take the gas and go when it went dead i checked the bubble it was still primed any ideas what could cause this i seen another post on timing roller for 60* engines could this be the same on the 90* engine

Wish I knew what to tell you. My 1994 Johnson 225 does the same thing. I tried a few things but no luck. I finally gave up and took it to the shop. I talked to them before the holiday weekend and though they thought they had it figured out they had not and were still searching for the solution.
