    87 Johnson 200

I have a friend (no joke, i run a merc), that has some questions about basic start up process about an 87 200 HP. I wish I could help, but mine is different. I know I choke mine for 8 sec and it starts. what is the basic choke / start up process for the Johnson? Also, can anyone let me know where to buy a manual for it?

    Re: 87 Johnson 200 (rangerdaniel)

for my 85 Rude I lift the fast idle lever up about half way, push the key in to activate the electronic choke, while holding the key in, turn the key to start it up. Once it starts I adjust the idle with the lever for about 20 seconds or so then slowly push it back down. If the engine sounds like its gonna die a quick push in on the key will squirt a little fuel into it and keep it going. Once it idles smooth on its own I put in gear and head out.
